From its establishment in 1999 until 2003 the organization was focused on a local grass root level, involving Banska Bystrica, a central town in Slovakia and its suburbs. From 2002 until 2004 and additionally in 2007, Association of Young Roma carried out courageous project “Roma Assistant of Teacher”. The project had national wide character, during its implementation the project created 247 work opportunities exclusively targeting Roma.
Moreover, Association of Young Roma did not stay inactive toward cross cutting dimension of problems faced by Roma involving discrimination, gender inequality and poverty, through “Wide Angle of View” project, implemented at the Matej Bel University in Banska Bystrica from 2011 until 2012 with more than 400 hundred Non Roma students actively were participating in open discussions, with purpose of improved coexistence and raised awareness among the university students and Roma. From the beginning of January 2010, Association of Young Roma has been accredited by accreditation to perform as temporary employment agency.
Since August 2013, Association of Young Roma operates social entrepreneurship. Social entrepreneurship consists of cooperation between the government and employment providers. In addition, the organization has been awarded a status of EVS sending and receiving organization .The organization had been funded from various national and international organizations in over a decade including OSI, Norwegian financial mechanism, the state grant schemes, embassies and other sources.
